Or Design a system for alerting park maintenance personnel when remotely located rubbish bins are full and in need of emptying.

For the chosen project: (a) List 4 key objectives that the designed object should achieve, and give a metric that can be used to measure each objective. (12 marks) (b) (c) List 3 key functions that the designed object will need to carry out. (6 marks) Give at least 2 ways of implementing each of the functions given in (b). (12 marks)

Question 2: Social Justice [70 marks]
The question of social justice arises whenever members of a community are forced to live under conditions that prevent them from improving their own well-being. These conditions are sometimes imposed by environmental factors and sometimes by people who are in position of power and who use that power to exploit the poorer and more vulnerable members of the community. Write a short essay (600 – 800 words) on whether you think that the people who live in Codo (the village at the centre of the EWB Challenge) are the victims of social injustices. Your essay should give reasons why this claim of injustice (or no injustice) is valid, and it should link these reasons with one or more of the projects offered by the EWB Challenge.
