During this term we will discuss how to manage change. Change management principles apply equally to you at work as well as in your personal life. You will learn an
eight step process to manage change, which includes:
Create a sense of urgency.
Pull together the guiding team.
Develop the change vision and strategy.
Communicate for understanding and buy-in.
Empower others to act.
Produce short-term wins.
Don’t let up.
Create a new culture.
The purpose of this book report is to expose you to this material and provide an opportunity for you to tease the application of these principles from a use case
designed for that particular purpose. Let me know if you have any questions after reading through the requirements below.
REQUIREMENTS:
Writes a 5-7 page paper providing a critical analysis of “Our Iceberg is Melting” by J Kotter.
Paper Organization: Cover (1 page), Executive Summary (1 page), Content (5-7 pages), References (1 page).
Overall content structure: Introduction, Body, Summary
The body shall be organized to include each of the eight steps for change management listed above. Provide detailed examples from the book along with an explanation
of how the example achieved the objective of the step.
Paper must be times new roman font 12 point; 1 inch margins top/bottom and side/side and double-spaced.
References must follow MLA or APA style. Recommend using https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01 as a starting point if you have any questions.
Must be students own work.
You must get your paper reviewed by the ECPI Writing Assistance Center for full credit.
Papers submitted via Moodle by the START of class Monday, 09 June unless otherwise arranged w/ the instructor.
Each student must be prepared to share their executive summary w/ the class on 11 June. Your paper and presentation will be worth 25% of your overall grade.
